Smart Country Convention 2025 – The largest digital government conference ends with new records
The Smart Country Convention 2025 (SCCON), shaping the future of digital government and public services, was held with greater interest than ever before. The event attracted more than 23,000 participants, 500 partners and 800 speakers to Berlin, setting a new standard among digital government and public sector innovation events.
A clear message: the will is there, now comes the implementation
The three-day event featured numerous lectures, workshops and exhibition stands showcasing the latest technologies and solutions. The central message across all forums was the same: the will for change is there – the question now is how to put it into practice.
Federal Minister for Digital Affairs and patron of the event, Dr. Karsten Wildberger, said in his keynote:
“The Smart Country Convention is not just a trade fair, but a showcase of what we can do when public administration, local authorities, business, science and society come together.”
This idea sums up the essence of the conference well: cooperation is essential to make the digital state not just a vision but an everyday reality.
This year’s SCCON programs covered many aspects of digitalization:
e-government solutions and customer-friendly online services,
artificial intelligence and data-driven decision-making,
development of smart cities and community participation,
cybersecurity and data protection,
as well as digital education and skills development, which are key factors in the labor market of the future.
During the workshops and panel discussions, it became clear that although the digital transformation brings many challenges, dialogue and cooperation between the players involved can bring about significant progress.
The organizers have already announced that the next, already ninth, Smart Country Convention will be held from 13 to 15 October 2026. Based on this year’s record participation and positive feedback, it is expected that topics such as the use of AI in public administration, digital citizenship and sustainable technology solutions will be even more prominent next year.
The Smart Country Convention 2025 was not only one of the largest digital state-focused events in Europe, but also an inspiration: it showed that the digitalization of the public sector is not only a technological but also a social issue. Collaboration and implementation are the biggest tasks of the next period, which will determine how our digital future is built.
